Gluten Free Easter Egg List 2009
Gluten Free Easter Eggs? What a novel idea. I came across this list in the UK. It contains a list companies and Easter Egg candy that is Gluten Free. The companies include Cadbury, Linden Lady Chocolates, Kinder, Kraft and Nestle.

Alternatively, you can use EU labelling legislation to choose your Easter Egg. All pre-packaged food bought in the UK are covered by the current EU wide food labelling legislation. This means that a gluten containing cereal used as a deliberate ingredient in a product must appear on the ingredients list, regardless of the amount used.
Manufacturers will name the particular grain i.e. ‘wheat’, ‘rye’, ‘barley’, ‘oats’; or some will use the word gluten as well i.e. ‘wheat gluten’. This information must be declared in the ingredients list, whereas the allergy advice box is only a recommendation (and is not compulsory). Therefore it is important that anyone following a gluten-free diet check both the ingredients list and the allergy advice box.

Just read somewhere else that the Cadbury Creme Eggs are not Gluten-free anymore. (http://gfdfw.blogspot.com/2009/03/cadbury-creme-eggs-are-not-gluten-free.html) Specifically their ingredients list:
“glucose syrup (wheat flour).”
As always, people should read the label, even if the product was GF in the past, ingredients and labeling changes.

Cadbury cream eggs are NOT gluten free and neither are Mini Eggs (their recipe changed this year and they now include Natural Ingredients which the manufacturer will not confirm do not contain gluten). I have a feeling you ripped this list off celiac-disease.com (who I know, you would THINK would do their homework and not misinform). But this list is NOT correct and hopefully a whole bunch of people do eat Cadbury this easter and get sick.

Technically Cadbury eggs are gluten free, the ingredient list does state “glucose syrup (wheat) fyi not wheat flour. Anyway glucose syrup like other wheat derived products may not have gluten in them (ex., maltdextrin) But it is up to all of us to make educated choices on what we eat. FYI I am celiac and also have DH and thoughly enjoyed every (48 and counting) creme egg I ate this spring.
